User Interface Designer Profile: Spencer Neese

How long have you been with WingateWeb?
3 years

As a User Interface Developer, what do you do?
I customize and update the UI code base on each of the WingateWeb applications. I use Photoshop, Illustrator, Eclipse, TextMate, Tomcat and Resin on a daily basis. More recently I have been involved in prototyping WingateWeb's next generation products.

What prior experience did you have before joining WingateWeb?
I began working for WingateWeb in the QA department so I was very familiar with the products when hired to work as a UI Developer. My UI experience up to that point was a bit "spotty", but in all totaling about 2 years of experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP on smaller business and personal web site projects.

What sort of experience is most useful in your position?
Our work requires us to write code that will support multiple browsers, so a strong understanding of the HTML DOM structure is a must. Knowledge of Java or a similar language is also very helpful.

What is your educational background?
I'm currently a student at UVSC, studying computer science.

What do you like most about what you do at WingateWeb?
The people I work with are excellent.

What is your team like?
Our UI team is quite small right now (only 5) and we all get along very well. We all strive to be very professional and keep up with the current technologies in the work we do.

What do you like about living/working in Utah?
I enjoy being in an environment with good ethics and morals. Utah isn't perfect, but it's defintely a nice place to live.

What are your hobbies?
If I'm not experimenting with the Adobe Suite, you'd probably find me camping, mountain biking, dancing or hanging out with friends.
