When you add a pre-defined response to a multiple-choice question, the system automatically provides a value for that response. The value is abbreviated version of a response that displays on reports
When you create a response, you may want to edit the response value to be a word or short phrase that you can easily recognize when you view it on reports.
When you edit the value, use these guidelines:
• The value must be one word and can contain only letters or numbers. It can not contain spaces or special characters.
• For each question for an event, the values must unique. If you have two identical values in the same question, then the responses will not be recorded or reported correctly.
• You can still have different questions on the same profile page or survey with the same response values. (For example, the survey may have several questions with Yes and No as the answer and value.) Also, you may choose to use the same value for the same question for different events (as explained in a later guideline below).
• Make sure you use a value that is meaningful. Keep in mind that you will see this value on reports, so use a value that will help you remember the actual response.
• If you have the same survey question for several events—and you want to run a report on that question across several events, you must use the same response values for that same question for different events so that the report shows correct data.
Important: After any user has answered a question, you must not edit the response value for the question. If you do so, any reports that show this response will show the results under two different response values. Therefore, it will appear as though users chose different responses, when it was actually was the same response.
